Activities and Events

Lara's House is the site of several Activity, Day Camp and Life Skills Programs for Young People with Special Needs. These special day, evening and weekend camps and workshops, named the 4 L's Activity Program (for life, learning, laughter and love), are available to persons with special needs age 10 and up.  They offer a fun, stimulating and educational place to learn and grow, and give parents and families a needed break from caregiving.  

All events, activities and programs are created and staffed by Beacon Family Services, a company with a mission to provide services and support to persons with special needs, their families, caregivers and community.  Program leaders and support staff are carefully chosen, and are either certified special education teachers or school district educational assistants, or trained and licensed care providers.

Programs include a Day Program for ages 21+, Friday Pizza and Movie night, Saturday Creativity/Arts Camp, BBQ and music night, Spa Night, holiday day camps, and special holiday celebrations.  Space is limited to 6-8 participants per activity so all can participate at their own level and receive individual care and attention.  See below for details and to register.

Thursday Spa Night
Come for a night of pampering and fun. We'll make a healthy dinner together and then enjoy an evening of luxury from the "spa menu". 4:00-9:00pm. Limit 6 participants. Indicate date desired in your comments.

Friday Pizza and Movie Night
Join your friends and make a healthy pizza and smoothie for dinner, then enjoy a lively musical movie and popcorn. 4:00 - 9:00p (or you can stay til 11:00!) Limit 6 participants. Indicate date desired in your comments.

Saturday Creativity Camp
Various arts and crafts projects, music, creative lunch-making, and service projects. Fee includes lunch and materials. Limit 6 participants. Indicate date desired in your comments.

Saturday Night BBQ and Music
Have your choice of burger, chicken, vegi burger or hot dog on the BBQ, salads, chips, and other BBQ favorites. After dinner, we'll sing songs and have s'mores! Limit 6 participants. Indicate date desired in your comments.

All Day Program - Creativity Camp & BBQ
Combine the Creativity Camp and BBQ/Campfire for a full day of fun! 10:00a - 11:00pm. Indicate date desired in your comments.

Sleepover Add-On
Make the fun last even longer with a slumber party after Friday Pizza/Movie Night or Saturday BBQ. Stay the night and have a delicious breakfast in the morning. Pick-up time: 9:30. Limit: 4 participants (female only, please)
